Create Your Own Halloween Outfit

Who would not like to see everyone all jazzed up in their favorite costume or Halloween outfit at Halloween? Kids mock their favorite superhero , or character from a movie, and adults act as though they only dress up to be a “good chaperone”. We all know it’s OK to play! A cheap Halloween costume is even better, so venture onto your wild side and get creative - it’s sure to make you and everyone else smile.

Choosing a costume doesn’t have to break the bank . A little of that old eye shadow that’s out of style makes great ghoulish face paint blended with a little cold cream for your kids costume. Even an out of style leisure suit can make “Larry the Lounge Lizard” appear as if he spent a lot of time just to pull himself together for the occasion . Whatever you choose to use or recycle, old shoes and hats , or Grandma’s stuffed bra mated with a “drugstore wig” can make a fantastic Halloween Costume.

There are plenty of other occasions other than Halloween that need a great costume or outfit. How about the infamous last minute notice from your sweet little one that “Tomorrow is wacky book character day, so what can I be?” Well, that’s when you’re glad to have a can of colored hairspray or some baby powder to sprinkle in the hair sprayed with a little superhold hairspray . Top that off with a couple of Styrofoam balls painted like bird eggs and you’ve got a great “bird nest head”.

An adult’s belted a-line skirt gathered up on a kid with a man’s button-up dress shirt or ladies blouse tucked tight makes for a unique pilgrim costume with some help from a construction paper hat. Tyeing a piece of black ribbon around the shirt collar with a big bow and a big buckle belt makes it look genuine . See there , you saved the Thanksgiving Play!

If you let your creative juices flow , a unique, cheap outfit can be created using what you have around the house. How about scanning over your local thrift store or consignment shop for those cowboy boots or pair of ruby slippers to finish off your costume? While you’re at it, you might as well make Halloween dress up complete. If you’re thrifty, you can go on discount day for greater savings.

Grandma always has something you could use and would be grateful to have someone clean out the closet or attic corner. Recycled kids costumes can always be reused , or redone. Swap with a friend or neighbor to get that ideal Halloween dress.

See, it doesn’t have to cost a lot or be a burden to dress up and have a little fun. Besides, join the kids and make it a family event this Halloween or Holiday season.
